She Killed Her Grandpa and Stuffed Him in a Tool Box, Cops Say

New Mexico State Police

A New Mexico woman has been accused of drugging her veteran grandfather to death, stuffing his body in a big tool box, and telling people that he was living at a fictional nursing home.

Candy Jo Webb, 27, went on the lam after a neighbor found A.J. Harden’s decomposed remains in mid-October, and investigators began asking questions, according to court papers.

But she was tracked to Jacksonville, Florida, where U.S. marshals picked her up on Thursday. She’s being held on a charge of first-degree murder and awaiting extradition to New Mexico, police said Friday.

Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows Has COVID-19

AL Drago/Reuters

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has contracted COVID-19—weeks after an outbreak infected a slew of Trumpworld figures, including the president, Bloomberg and CNN reported on Friday night.

In addition to the 61-year-old Meadows, a Trump campaign aide, Nick Trainer, reportedly is also sick.

The news comes just two weeks after Meadows shockingly admitted on television that the Trump administration has decided it is “not going to control the pandemic.”

Bill Maher Dances All Over Trump’s White House Grave

On Friday night, Bill Maher stood on the Real Time stage and, with a shit-eating grin plastered across his face, teed off on President Donald Trump, who appears to have lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

“Biden won the election!” Maher exclaimed, before a collection of red, white and blue balloons fell on him from above. “The networks are still too chickenshit to call it, but plainly, he’s won this election.”

Then, the comic addressed Trump’s deluge of dangerous, fact-free protestations over the results, with the president baselessly alleging that mail-in ballots for some reason shouldn’t be counted in the final tally—even though a good number of these ballots come from military service members, the elderly, or the infirm.

QAnon Lost and Confused After Trump’s Election Showing

Anadolu Agency/Getty

Aside from perhaps Donald Trump himself, no one is struggling more with what appears to be the president’s impending re-election defeat than QAnon conspiracy theorists.

Since Oct. 2017, when the mysterious “Q” first began issuing clues on the anonymous message board 4Chan, QAnon believers have been promised that Trump would bring down a “cabal” of pedophile-cannibals in the Democratic Party, Hollywood, and banking with mass waves of arrests in a cathartic moment called “The Storm.” They have been promised that The Storm would solve not only the world’s biggest problems, but their own. At various points, they have even convinced each other that Trump would solve diseases like cancer and absolve crushing medical and credit card debts.

But as Joe Biden builds his lead in Pennsylvania, QAnon followers are faced with their greatest challenge yet. For years, they’ve been told that—no matter how bad things looked for Trump on the outside—the president and the military had everything in hand. “Patriots were in control,” Q told them in one popular motto, “Enjoy the show.”

Overtime! 2020’s Insane Campaign Will Go Until 2021

In the perfect coda to this chaotic, unprecedented election year, the battle for control of the U.S. Senate is heading into overtime, and the outcome now rides almost entirely on the voters of one state: Georgia.

With nearly every vote counted in the state as of Friday, elections for Georgia’s two Senate seats will both head to runoff elections, scheduled for Jan. 5.

In one race, Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) leads Democrat Jon Ossoff by less than three points, but the incumbent came under the 50 percent threshold needed to win outright under the state’s rules. In the other, the state’s special election, the top two finishers in a crowded primary—Democrat Raphael Warnock and appointed Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA)—will meet in the runoff, having cleared 32.7 percent and 26 percent of the vote on Nov. 3, respectively.

SCOTUS Does Not Break Trump’s Losing Streak in Courts

As you were—that’s the order the Supreme Court gave to Pennsylvania Friday night amid the Trump campaign’s legal challenges to vote-counting there.

Justice Samuel Alito, a leader of the highest bench’s conservative faction, issued an order in response to an afternoon request from Pennsylvania Republicans that left the situation in the Keystone State virtually unchanged: with ballots that arrived after 8 p.m. on Election Day getting set aside, but still counted so long as they are postmarked by Tuesday or have no postmark at all. This was the exact guidance that Democratic Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar had already given the county authorities responsible for handling the postal votes, and Alito’s directive simply made these directives legally binding.

“All county boards of election are hereby ordered, pending further order of the Court, to comply with the following guidance provided by the Secretary of the Commonwealth,” the order reads, directing the localities to keep the ballots in a sealed container and “that all such ballots, if counted, be counted separately.”

Creepy Texts Sicced Trump Supporters on Philly Vote Count

As vote counting continued in Philadelphia on Thursday, bringing Joe Biden ever closer to victory in the state, city residents received a disturbing text message.

“Radical Liberals & Dems are trying to steal this election from Trump!” read the text. “We need YOU! Show your support at the corner of 12th St. & Arch St. in Philadelphia.”

The message sounded like the fodder of a Trump tweet: As President Donald Trump’s chances at victory dimmed, he and party cronies baselessly claimed that Democrats were cheating and trying to “steal” a victory. Instead, as votes were tallied in Philadelphia and its suburbs late Thursday and early Friday, it became increasingly likely that Democratic nominee Joe Biden would win Pennsylvania, and with it, the presidency.

Tony Blinken Will Get a Top Job in Biden Admin, Sources Say

Anadolu Agency/Getty

Before all votes were counted in the states that will determine the next president, conversations within Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s foreign policy orbit had intensified around one person: Tony Blinken.

According to multiple sources who spoke to The Daily Beast, Blinken, who served as deputy secretary of state during former President Barack Obama’s second term, is being considered for two influential positions in a potential Biden administration: secretary of state and national security adviser. The talks have occurred more frequently in recent days and weeks as the campaign has neared a tentative close, sources familiar said.

The discussions come as Biden campaign officials have insisted that their focus is simply to win the still-ongoing election against President Donald Trump.

‘It’s Over Here’: Biden Surges Even Further Ahead in Pennsylvania, Nevada

Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast/Getty

As President Trump littered his Twitter feed with grievances and conspiracy theories on Friday, Joe Biden widened his lead in almost every state still in play.

The Democratic challenger took the lead in Pennsylvania early Friday and, by just after 9:30 p.m. ET, had grown it to 27,174 votes—a position which, unless Trump can pull off an unlikely late surge, looks set to land the former vice president in the White House.

With the Keystone State’s remaining votes largely mail-in and provisional ballots from metro areas like Philadelphia, Trump’s chances are dimming by the hour.

Fox News Anchor Debunks Trump’s Bogus Poll Watcher Claims Peddled by Fox

Fox News

Fox News anchor Eric Shawn fact-checked the Trump campaign’s repeated claims that poll watchers have been denied access to ballot counting sites in Pennsylvania and other states, pointing out on Friday that it’s “not true” that the campaign’s representatives haven’t been able to observe the process.

With Vice President Joe Biden on the cusp of clinching the election as he holds leads in several states that would push him well over 270 electoral votes, the president raged in a Thursday address, falsely claiming victory while making baseless allegations of widespread election fraud. Trump, along with his campaign and sympathetic Fox personalities, pointed to the blocking of poll watchers as proof of a corrupt system and illegitimate election results.

“They wouldn’t allow legally permissible observers,” Trump growled during his unhinged performance.
